A national chain of Restaurants is backing this years Clacton Air Show in a bid to boost the show and local areas. A recent report revealed that the air show generates more than £3.7million for the local economy. This year the air show will be held on August 23 and 24, and as usual we will be offering day trips aboard 'Nanajan'. We anchor out in Clacton bay for the whole of the show so you will get great uninterupted views. Why not get a group of friends or family together and make a real day of it.

Did you know?
The pull of the moon and sun are the main cause of tides on Earth but 100 other scientific factors affect the timing and height of tides. Tide prediction is getting better all the time, and official tidal predictions are available up to two years in advance. There is roughly 12 hrs 25 minutes between each high tide.
Especially high tides are called spring tides, but they have nothing to do with the season and actually occur twice a month. Spring tides also mean lower low water. The opposite to a spring tide is a neap tide.

"The government has decided that a number of major UK coastguard stations should be closed arguing that fewer stations can cope with the workload. This fails to take account of the vital local knowledge of coastguard station staff who can direct emergency services directly and quickly to incidents where lives are at stake. More remote stations (often hundreds of miles away from the scene of an emergency) do not have this knowledge. In order to prevent unnecessary and avoidable loss of life the government must keep all coastguard stations operational." Text taken from the H M Government e-Petition website

A slightly belated 'Happy New Year' from the crew of Nanajan.
Ken has been really busy setting up the expansion on the Restaurant in Titchmarsh Marina where 'Nanajan' is moored. A huge 16 metre conservatory has been added onto the original building at Harbour Lights Restaurant which has made a beautiful dining room with fantastic views over the marina. Guests taking day trips on 'Nanajan' can reserve a table for their return and enjoy deliciously cooked food in either the Harbour Lights Carvery or the Hot Rock Lava Grill.
With the London 2012 Olympics fast approaching, we are now taking bookings from visitors who would like to see a little more of the East Coast while they are in the area. Titchmarsh Marina is just over an hour from London and has good rail connections. If you are visiting the area, don't get caught up in the enevitable traffic jams surrounding the Capital, get out to sea and see the area from a whole new perspective.
We look forward to welcoming both returning guests and new this coming year!

Another great day out on Nanajan.
The Wright family from Colchester were over the moon with Saturdays trip aboard Nanajan.
The weather was good for November, the sea was a little choppy but with Nanajan weighing 25 tons this was not a problem.
Its great to see people enjoying themselves.....Another satisfied customer.

My name is ken Lellow..... I am the owner and skipper of "Nanajan".
I am ex Royal Navy and always dreamed that one day I would purchase a boat of my own. But as with most of us the years roll by and it never normally happens, then in 2004 I was fortunate to be able to buy "Nanajan." She has a semi displacement hull with an unladend weight of 25 tons and is a great sea going vessel.
In 2009 I decide to have her coded for charter work, this gives me a licence to carry 12 passengers within 60 miles of any port and well within range of most european ports on the east coast.
My second in command is Mick Lane a great guy who loves the sea as much as I do and a great peoples person, besides assisting me with all boat duties he takes care of the passengers safety and of course the all important drinks section, Mick owns and skippers a 32 foot sailing boat from Titmarsh marina and has many years experience of the local waters.
The sea air always makes you hungry, so on your return you must visit my restaurant "The Harbour Lights". There is a fine menu selection from an all day carvery with alternative menu, plus our new lava stone cooking at the table. This is where you cook your steak "as you like it" and not as the chef thinks you like it. The stone stays cooking hot for 45 mins giving you plenty of time for a glass of wine during your meal.
With the addition of another conservatory we are launching a new menu of "A la Carte" Indian Cuisine. We have been fortunate to obtain the services of a top 5 star chef, with a wealth of experience in major hotels in India and europe. This will be opening late January 2012...... So keep a look out.
Whether its a trip or a meal....we look forward to seeing you
